TUPELO - Ed Bishop, whose career with Tupelo's WTVA TV spanned four decades, has died. He was 69.

Bishop died Thursday of congestive heart failure, according to Holland-Harris Funeral.

He began his career at WTVA in October 1966 after answering a local newspaper advertisement. The station was then called WTWV.

The station said Bishop's talents made him a natural fit and he worked in various roles over the years, including as anchor. He took on more management responsibilities later in his career.

Visitation is 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday at Holland-Harris Funeral Home in Tupelo.

Sunday visitation begins at noon with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m.
