OXFORD - Douglas Hodgkin, who served 21 years in prison for the slaying of University of Mississippi student, is now living in Kentucky with his family.
Kentucky Department of Corrections spokeswoman Lisa Lamb says Hodgkin arrived in Kentucky on Monday.
Hodgkin was paroled by the Mississippi Parole Board in February. His release in March was delayed after Gov. Haley Barbour signed into law a bill that required anyone convicted of capital murderer with an underlying sex offense to register as a sex offender.
The home where he was to reside was too close to a school and no longer met approval under Kentucky's sex offender home inspection laws.
Lamb says Hodgkin found a residence that met the requirements and was released Monday by Mississippi officials.
