Ole Miss basketball coach Andy Kennedy will plead guilty to a lesser charge Monday in Cincinnati and will not stand trial for simple assault, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Kennedy was arrested on Dec. 18, 2008 and charged with misdemeanor assault for allegedly striking cab driver Mohamed Jiddou. The arrest report claimed that Kennedy assaulted Jiddou and “punched the victim with a closed first while shouting racial slurs.” Kennedy denied all charges of verbal or physical abuse. For more on this story, see Wednesday's Daily Journal newspaper.
