Fulton vehicular accidents claimed the lives of two men this past week.
A one-vehicle accident in Fulton last Thursday morning resulted in the death of an Amory man.
James Rickey Murphy, 25, was pronounced dead on arrival by Itawamba County coroner Steven McNeece after suffering severe head trauma, caused by wrecking his vehicle into a telephone pole at approximately 6:45 a.m.
According to McNeece, Murphy reportedly lost control of his vehicle while traveling northbound on Highway 25 South, causing him to steer off the of the road and into an embankment. Murphy's vehicle flipped and hit a telephone pole off Justice Road. The telephone pole then broke in half and fell atop another vehicle but did not injure the driver.
McNeece added that Murphy was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
A Sunday afternoon motorcycle accident resulted in the death of a Fulton man.
Jesse Matthew Roberts, 22, of 155 Wallace Road, Fulton, was pronounced dead by McNeece at approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday after wrecking his motorcycle on Wood Road in Dorsey.
According to McNeece, Roberts lost control of his vehicle, and left the road. He was ejected from the motorcycle and hit a tree, killing him instantly.
McNeece said Roberts was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
