The Tupelo Convention amp& Visitors says attendance at local attractions fell 6 percent in the last fiscal year.

Tourism officials cited high gas prices during the summer and big crowds in 2007 at the birthplace for the 30th anniversary of Presley's death.

Total economic impact from conventions, trade shows, special events, weddings, sports and entertainment was $51.8 million, up 1.7 percent from fiscal year 2007.

Tourism tax revenues increased 7 percent in FY 2008, which ended in September.
