CALHOUN CITY - As part of an initiative to revitalize MSU alumni chapters, a Spring Event is being organized by the Calhoun County chapter.
On Tuesday, March 24, at 6:30 p.m. a dinner will be held at the Multi-Purpose building in Pittsboro with MSU Athletic Director, Greg Byrne, as the guest speaker. Tickets are $10 per plate with children under 10 free.
Stephanie Lee said that Director of alumni groups, Michael Richardson, met with Calhoun County alumni recently asking for their assistance in reviving their chapter. The group agreed and have set their plans in motion.
"The group is open to all MSU alumni and friends and plans to meet quarterly at different locations around the county," Lee said via email.
The group also plans to host at least two special events each year and to get out into the community to publicize the university
"The main goals of the chapter are to support MSU by promoting it to potential students, create an excitement for MSU academics and athletics and raise funds to provide a scholarship.
Chapter members plan to have t-shirts for sale soon.
The Spring Event dinner is open to the public and chapter members are inviting members form the Chickasaw and Yalobusha County chapters to attend as well.
