Well, Thursday was quite busy. I got in about 2:30 a.m., thus the lateness of this entry. So let's recap all the action and throw some links at y'all.

• Here's the game story of No. 20 MSU's 62-58 win over Tennessee. And here's the notebook, talking about DeVille Smith and Wendell Lewis, among other things.

• Speaking of hoops, the Gainesville Sun had a Q&A with ESPN commentator Jimmy Dykes, who calls MSU a surprise team. Why? "I'm surprised that there is no (bad) news coming out of Starkville."

• Wide receiver Chad Bumphis has pleaded not guilty to charges of public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

• Ex-Bulldog Shawn Long has landed at UL-Lafayette, closer to his family.

• Looking ahead, State plays Alabama tomorrow at 3 p.m. (SEC Network), so I'll have a game advance on that in Saturday's paper. And coming Sunday is a story examining MSU's billboard marketing strategy. If you haven't heard the Bulldog Beat today, check the on-demand section and listen for my interview on this topic with Chad Thomas, the assistant AD for marketing.

You embarrass your self as well as the Universary

by refering to Coacg Nullen as a used car salesman.

Please Daily Journal take notice of these complaints.

Mr locke,

Not all of the people who read this blog are as dumb as you obviously think they are. However you are obviously pretty dumb if you think anyone is buying the answer that you don't think saying Mullen reminds you of a used car salesman is not an insult.

It is pretty common that anyone that uses that phrase means it in an insulting way.

I personally am done with this blog and your articles. I'll get my stories elsewhere. I know that doesn't hurt this blog because there is nothing to hurt in the first place. Very few readers to begin with.

Hopefully one day the journal will come to grips with the fact that they have a poor excuse for a beat writer covering MSU.

Got in a hurry and the end of that first paragraph should have read "if you think anyone is buying the answer that you don't think saying Mullen reminds you of a used car salesman is an insult".

Why did you insert "bad" in your writeup? Seems very misleading and insinuating on your part especially after scrolling through the linked article. Still curious why you refer to Mullen as used car salesman? Cheap shots by you.

I was giving the quote context. Clearly he was talking about bad news, as he said immediately after that comment that Sidney wasn't being a distraction. It's not that hard to figure out.

And yes, Mullen reminds me of a used car salesman is some ways, which was not meant as an insult, just an objective observation. You deal with him on a regular basis like I do, you pick up on these things.

So, no cheap shots by me. That's not what I do. Take off the maroon-colored glasses for a second or two. There are a lot more colors out there in the world.
