In case you missed my earlier tweet (@carlie_kollath), here you go ...
Gigi's quietly opened its doors today. The business had a soft opening and sold 600 to 700 cupcakes, according to co-owner Colby Dodd. So far, wedding cake and chocolate salted caramel have been best-sellers in Tupelo.
Gigi’s is a Nashville-based chain known for its variety of flavors and the large amounts of frosting on each cupcake. The cupcakes in the shop today each had about two inches of frosting on top.
The shop officially opens at 10 a.m. Friday.
Cupcakes are $3 each. The store will have samples this weekend, along with balloons and face-painting.
Gigi also will be in the store Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Gigi's is in the Kings Crossing shopping center anchored by Kohl’s. Gigi’s is next to Smoothie King on North Gloster Street.
