Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash in Pontotoc County at approximately 1:57 p.m. that claimed the life of a Pontotoc County resident.
Upon arriving, it appeared Brenda Walton, 54, of Pontotoc, was driving a 2000 Ford F150 and attempting to cross MS 9 from McGregor Lane onto Waldo Road, when it appears she pulled into the path of 2005 Kia Van, driven by Angela C Bennett, 42, of Calhoun City.
Bennett and a 3-year-old child were transported by ambulance to Pontotoc Hospital with minor injuries. Bennett was wearing a seat belt and the child was properly restrained in a child’s seat.
Walton was ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt.
The accident is still under investigation.
