After just a few listens to Busted Screen Door's "Southern Belles & Shotgun Shells," you'll be singing along with just about every song.

That's just how catchy the music is and how memorable the lyrics are. The Tupelo band serves up straight-up, radio-ready country. It may sound familiar, but not familiar as in boring or bland – it's more like familiar as in comforting, down-home-y.

"Southern Belles" kicks off with the loud and rowdy "Southern Thang," a fun song full of country swagger that talks about pastures, muddy tires and ticking off the bossman. It's a single just waiting for the radio.

In that same vein is "That's Just My Country Comin' Out," another salute to the South. The band hits it out of the park again with the rollicking "Great Day to Drank a Beer."

Busted Screen Door also does heartbreak well; just hear the tender "Fillin' My Boots."

If you're looking for a laugh, BSD has that, too, with "T.U.I." – that's "Texting Under the Influence."

Tim Warren does a terrific job handling lead vocals, but when he hands over the reins, it's on the right song, and to the right man. Tatum Shappley gives passionate performances in "Part of You" and "Til I Found You."

Busted Screen Door is known in these parts as a live band – a band that's played on nearly every stage, from tiny little holes in the wall to prime spots at the Tupelo Elvis Presley Festival. Many live bands can't carry that energy into the studio, but BSD has. The band sounds terrific, and their album covers all the country bases on this debut. For country fans, it's worth checking out.

"Southern Belles & Shotgun Shells" by Busted Screen Door is $10 and can be purchased at any BSD show, or at the band's DigStation site (it will be at iTunes soon).
