Excerpts of a press release from the Mississippi Development Authority:
Jackson, Miss. (September 2, 2010) – The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) recently awarded 13 additional grants, totaling $2.16 million, as part of the second – and final – round of the Mississippi Job Protection through Energy Economic Development Program.
The job protection program is part of the State Energy Program (SEP) funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The Job Protection Program has allocated a total of $7.81 million to eligible companies in the second round.
“Funding through the Mississippi Job Protection through Energy Economic Development Program helps businesses around the state become more energy-efficient and enables them to lower their utility costs,” said Karen Bishop, MDA Stimulus Division director. “Lowering operating costs open up capital for job creation and retention, which are the primary purposes of the program.”
