Since Toyota began accepting applications last week, it's received nearly 10,000 from across the country.
As of this morning, 9,802 had been received.
Our friends at the Clarion-Ledger had a good story on where the apps are coming from.
We'll also have more details in a story we're working on for Sunday. Seems we had similar ideas about a week ago on the same topic. Great minds think alike, right?
We did talk to some applicants at the Belden WIN Job Center, but they declined to reveal their names - they work at other businesses and didn't want their bosses to know they were looking elsewhere. So we won't mention their names.
But if you've applied for one of those Toyota jobs, tell us what your experience was like. Call me at (662) 678-1578 or email me at dennis.seid@djournal.com.
At the current rate, they'll do good to get 1/10 of the media projections.
Maybe the other 250-350K projected applicants realized that they'd actually have to move to Mississippi to take the jobs, huh?
10,000 for 1,350 jobs is a lot, but not like the 5,000 that applied for the initial 37 salaried positions.
