TUPELO – Police have made two arrests in the armed robbery of a local liquor store that happened in July.
Leonta Gates and Denarvis Ruff are charged with the July 26 armed robbery of a liquor store on South Gloster Street. Their bonds were set at $500,000 a piece. The two allegedly hit the clerk in the head with a bottle before taking an undisclosed amount of money from the store. Thanks to tips from the public, Tupelo Police Chief Tony Carleton said they were able to make the arrests.
“We considered these suspects dangerous and we needed help finding then and the public really turned out to help,” said Carleton. “Our detectives never stopped working the case and those two things are what led to these arrests.”
Police are looking for Talron Coleman, a third suspect possibly involved in the robbery.
Gates is also being charged with and auto burglary that happened on Ida Street in mid June, according to Carelton.
With all these highway viaducts around?
What better way to impress upon the riff raf and left side of the bell curve the futility of kicking against the pricks than bodies dangling from ropes on the Hwy 45 overpasses?
This is probably not his first run in with the CJ system, so he understands the game. And you know what, he just won.
