We know how you foodies out there love updates on new restaurants. As you know, we've been talking about Caney Fork Restaurant opening in the old Santa Fe Cattle Co. location on South Gloster. We're gettin' closer! Here's an email from Josh Weis, vice president of Caney Fork.

The restaurant in Columbus opened yesterday (Monday), and Tupelo's is just around the corner, he said:

The Caney Fork Restaurant in Columbus, MS opened with huge success (as expected).  The crowds packed the house after the ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 PM.  It was great to finally open the doors.  The managers and training staff have been working very hard over the past month and their preparation was evident with such a flawless opening.  The Columbus community has been great from the start so we are so glad to finally return the love.

Tupelo will open next sometime in March 2010 followed by Leeds, AL shortly after.  Management applications will be accepted on our Web site at www.caneyforkrestaurant.com and all other applicants are asked to visit the location to fill out an application.

Did the Columbus store open in a previously owned Sante Fe Cattle Co place because the youtube video looks exactly like the Sante Fe interior here in Tupelo? Does anyone know?

We've eaten at the Caney Fork Camp restaurant in Nashville twice and the food was good both times. I wonder if they'll have a fish pond inside the Tupelo location, or if they'll have live musical entertainment here like the one in Nashville. It's a neat restaurant in Nashville; I'm interested in seeing how much of that original concept they're able to extend into a new location in a fixed building with limited flexibility.
