Y'all were right - Hollywood Video on West Main closed Sunday. We found a shuttered store, empty parking lot and empty shelves.

Thanks for the tips. Keep 'em coming.

We were in Hollywood Video over the summer a few times, but each time we went, the air conditioning wasn't working in the store. So we stopped going there, and started our Netflix subscription back up. I like it better now anyway since you can stream movies and TV shows across the computer or Xbox 360.

I liked Redbox when they first came to town, but there seems to be a long time at each one now, and I'm too impatient to just stand behind someone in a parking lot.

NetFlix (which i use) must be doing just fantastic in the market. I thought Hollywood was strong in Tupelo. Better location than Blockbuster. Southern Video was still my choice for movies, but Hollywood was my place for renting games.

This is interesting - from Wikipedia:

As of November 4, 2009 - Movie Gallery is currently behind rent in many if not all its locations. They have set up a hotline for distressed building owners. When landlords call 877.572.3148, the hotline promises a 48-hour response to their inquiry.
