OXFORD – Ole Miss quarterback signee Bo Wallace was cited for underage possession of alcohol by Oxford Police last Thursday, according to a Clarion-Ledger report.

Wallace signed with Ole Miss earlier this month after a record-setting season in which he led East Mississippi Community College to the national championship.

He is expected to compete for the starting job when the Rebels begin spring drills in late March.

According to Oxford Police Chief Mike Martin, Wallace was issued a post-arrest citation shortly after 10 p.m., at Rooster's Blues House last Thursday.

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said in a statement that he was aware of the situation and will address it internally.

MidTennDog, I don't think being in the click of things is the problem. PA is definately "in the know". "Damage control reporting". Just the opposite goes on in Starkville, Brad L is inquiring about ncaa violations and anything else he can report negative.

A week is a long time for this to go before getting reported. Parish, you might want to take some cookies and coffee by the Oxford police station. Get "in" with them a little bit, so they'll let you know the juicy gossip when it happens.

Janga, dude, I was trying to be nice and act like Wallace's citation was no big deal. Well, it is a big deal. What a stupid thing to let happen to you, when you are primed for the starting QB of a Rebelbear program that desperately needs a positive start to the 2012 season. Well, that's blown. Underage drinking? at Rooster's? Really?

The Rebelbears are in search of a leader on the field and probably in the locker room as well. Maybe The Rebelbear Killer, Dan Mullen saw the lack of leadership in the QB and decided it was better that he plays in Oxfart.

Now, do you really believe anyone is gonna buy you trying to be nice to the Bearbels?

You do make a valid point about the character of a leader. With all the difficult they have had and with the new coach trying to legitimize the the program, the QB should work to be above reproach. Need to put him in the Freezer til fall...hibernation maybe?

You are so right. The football team is MUCH more important than your family or your own character.

Good life lesson....Don't get caught, and if you do make sure your ID is illegal...but not the cheap illegal...spend that extra $50. Heck, the coach can probably have it made on campus for you.

Seems odd that the daily journal would have to reference an aritlce out of a Jackson based newspaper to get this reported. This happened a week ago and it takes a week for it to be reported and it happened in the journal's backyard. Go figure. (roll eyes) Might have to start paying more attention to the Clarion Ledger.

Wow! He should know better. When I was his age, I made an investment in a top quality fake ID. If you are wanting to be the face of a program, you really do have to give up taking risks that could affect your team. Bad move for a hopefull star.

I did the same things at that age, but if I got caught it only affected my family, this affects the entire football program and university.
